Vocal Evolution

Welcome to the official website of Vocal Evolution and music of

Jordan Forrest Johnson

Vocal Evolution is a Minneapolis group formed in 1998. The band began writing and playing together and originally consisted of Jordan Johnson, Reid Beucher, Alex N. Johnson, and Josh Woodbeck. The quadro performed at many high school parties, most notably the Knutsen's Halloween Party in which the band "dressed up," under the name Eight Ball Abuse. Vocal Evolution, after losing Josh in 99, went on to win the Minnetonka Battle of the Bands competition.

Jordan brought the group into the studio in the summer of 1999 and they recorded at Curve Records in Greenwood, Mn. Although 5 tunes were recorded Jordan decided to complete and produce 3 of them adding studio drummer Eric Newberg. Closer, Evaporating, and Lock Onto the Door were the band's first in-studio cuts which were independently released under Jahlilah Bones Music.

Reid Beucher rejoined the band in the summer of 2000 and Vocal Evolution performed at the Excelsior Commons 4th of July Festival playing both new and old originals and covering Tom Petty's "American Girl," at Jordan's demand. The band was in and out of the studio all summer trying to balance between small venue gigs, rehearsal and recording time.

The Self Titled VOCAL EVOLUTION was recorded May of 2000 - August 2001 and was released on October 3, 2001. The band called this their Demo CD cutting it down from 11 to 7 tracks.

Since 2001 Jordan has taken the project to Chicago under formation of The Dirty Birds and is currently working on a new project in London.
