Jordan Forrest Johnson
history of the artist
Jordan Forrest Johnson is a Minneapolis born (1981) artist, songwriter, singer and musician. He has been involved in creating music his whole life. Starting at age 11 he learned the guitar, percussion, and piano. Fronting as a drummer for 10 years, Jordan's first band formed in 1993 as Mayday. The group originally consisted of Brian Peterson (Rhythm Guitar), Ed Jarvis (Lead Guitars) and Jordan on Drums. As an early rock project the band underwent many changes and formations and eventually recorded a 4 song demo in 1997 with Pat Wright as Guitarist and Vocalist. In 1998 Jordan disbanded Mayday to form his own group, Vocal Evolution. As a singer-songwriter Jordan has completed 4 CD's in 3 years, writing hundreds of songs, and has taken the stage in many states and countries. Under the name The Dirty Birds, a Chicago area blues/rock/jam band, Jordan fronted the band as guitarist and vocalist along with Marcus Harman on Drums, and Rich Vlach on Harmonica. The trio regularly filled bars in the North Chicago area, gaining buzz and fame with unprecedented speed. Jordan and the Birds created a demo CD in 2002 consisting of 4 originals. By age 22, Jordan had headlined several North Chicago venues, along with the Birds sent the Lake Forest College Rugby Team to Whales from a benefit concert, won numerous songwriting competitions, and had three of his songs on regular rotation on The Forester, local college radio. Jordan's goal is to continue bringing good music and good times to anyone he can reach out to, while maintaining an innovative style blending Rock, Blues, with traditional percussive instruments.
